Contactless Cards Will Be Displaced By NFC Mobile Phones

What's New?


Although there’s no official announcement, the road leads to using your mobile phones as your Identification, Access Control, and Payment is imminent.

I was a delegate to Cards and Payments Asia 2012 recently held in Singapore, and the conference is promoting awareness that NFC Mobile technology is on its way to the payment industry.

HID Global has recently piloted NFC mobile keys at Arizona State University, the first ever public trial where 32 participants are selected and given iPhones to be used for access control as key.  A video shows the HID Global’s pilot project:
